The “leaked” pics of a new iMac making the rounds are clearly a Photoshop fake made from images of Apple’s Cinema Displays taken from Apple’s website. See below.
The color also screams fake.
A new iMac is rumored to be introduced by Steve Jobs at a special event at Apple HQ on Tuesday — and everyone is hoping for a redesign. But Apple’s consumer machines do not come with metallic finishes. That’s reserved for the “pro” level machines. If the iMac has a new case, it will be made of plastic and will come in black, white or maybe other fruity colors.

No cues for the detailed specs, but at least we can expect the new iMac to be another iteration of apple’s rounded rectangle design. Looking at your Apple product strategy roadmap, it’s like the major influence of the 2000 Mac Cube was to progressively end the water drop era, and impose this new design direction to every Apple product: Macs, iPods, iPhones, Apple TV, Airport Extreme, name it. And more time passes on and more Apple seems to assume it: the MacBook’s keyboard is particularly radical in that sens. So, let’s see tomorrow what’s next… Cheers.
Like they would have the exact same lighting as well…
You were right about it being a fake, but wrong about metallic being reserved for ‘pro’ machines.
You seemed so frank and confident that Apple would not release an iMac with an aluminum case but you were clearly wrong. I believe giving the market what it wants (albeit on Apple’s own timeline) is better for business than sticking to with an outdated design. At the end of the day Apple is only trying to make a buck.
