Proof That The Newton Still Lives

Even in the day and age of the iPhone, the Newton community is still updating software for the old brick.
Programmer Simon Bell has released version 2.1 of Newton Connection, which allows a Newton to be backed up to a Mac running OS X.
The new version adds a small feature — a screenshot function — but I’m just delighted that the Newton community is still active.

Let that old tired out dinosaur die already. The only missing event is a proper funeral. Geez!

Oh, this is great news!
Last time I dug out my eMate, I was still relying on Classic apps for the Newton. However, with this piece of software I can keep on using my eMate now that I’m running Leopard.
Awesome! Maybe it’s time to get a fresh set of batts for my eMate.
I <3 my eMate

Amen, Cailin. I’ve been in a quandary about connecting my MessagePad 110 to OS X - most of the hookup software titles out there don’t support Newton OS 1.x.
I did highlight some of the other connection utilities, but I’m glad to see one of them actually got updated.
Thanks for the tip!
