Two weeks after its announcement, the HomePod 2 is officially on sale and hitting retail stores in the US, Canada, Australia, and other markets. Customers around the world are also receiving their HomePod 2 pre-orders.

Apple started accepting HomePod 2 pre-orders soon after its announcement. If you placed your order early, your unit should also show up today.

Same design, the same amazing sound quality

The 2nd gen. HomePod looks similar to the first one, with the only notable change being a larger touch display at the top. Like the HomePod mini, the new full-size Apple smart speaker comes with a U1 chip and built-in humidity and temperature sensors. With these new sensors, you can run various home automation and control your smart home devices.

Despite two fewer tweeters, HomePod 2 reviews indicate it sounds even better than the first model, though it does not go as loud. The new HomePod runs on Apple’s S7 chip that first appeared in Apple Watch Series 7.

At $299, the HomePod 2 retains the same price tag as the original HomePod before it was discontinued in 2021.

Announced in the same week as the HomePod 2, the 2023 MacBook Pro and Mac mini are already available through Apple’s retail stores.

HomePod 2 provides more value than its predecessor

The original HomePod was a failure despite its exceptional sound quality. However, its successor seems to be doing much better, even before its launch. The smart speaker’s wait times already stretch into March 2023, hinting at pent-up demand.

If you could not place your HomePod 2 pre-order early, consider heading to your nearest Apple store later today. The company usually has some in-store stock for the retail launch. So, if you reach your nearest Apple store early, you can possibly get your hands on the speaker today itself.
