Apple Podcasts on the web
Now even PC users can experience Apple Podcasts a lot like someone who uses the app for macOS.

As an alternative to using the Apple Podcasts app, as of Monday anyone can browse, hear, sync and share Apple Podcasts in 170 countries on all major web browsers, including Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

So now Apple Podcasts joins the likes of Podbay and Podurama in offering its own online player for anyone on any platform.

Try the new web experience for Apple Podcasts

Apple gave similar treatment to Apple Maps recently, bringing it to browsers. Now that’s all you need to experience Apple Podcasts on the web, including more than just listening to episodes via browser (which you could already do previously, but you had to follow a link to an Apple Podcasts preview page). Of course, you can always get the app, but some people feel they have too many of them and would welcome a web-based alternative with similar features.

Features available via a new interface for web browsers now include previously app-only functions:

  • Browsing Library and Top Charts.
  • Viewing and interacting with your Up Next list.
  • Syncing Apple Accounts to pause and play a podcast later, or see followed shows and subscriptions.
  • Adding a premium subscription.
  • Even without an Apple Account you can use the web experience.

The change will also likely benefit podcasters. The web interface lets them share links to episodes, shows and channels far and wide, which could grow their audiences faster.
