Instagram’s latest update makes it far easier to post from other iOS apps, thanks to a new shared extensions feature which allows users to upload images directly from their image rolls in apps such as Photos.
Here’s how you do it.
1. First of all, make sure you’re updated to the latest version of Instagram, which you can do by downloading the app from here if you’ve not already got it saved on your iOS device.
2. Next up, open the app you want to send an image from.

3. Hit the “share” button and, once you’ve done this, tap the Instagram icon.
4. A caption window opens so that you can properly label the image before it’s posted to Instagram.
Simple, right? Apple first introduced shared extensions with iOS 8 way back in 2014, around the time of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launch. While Facebook and Twitter wasted little time in enabling the feature, it’s taken Instagram the best part of two years to get its act together.
Still, it’s a nifty quick feature if you’re a regular Instagrammer!
