iPhone 13 Pro Max charges faster than its predecessor, with speeds hitting up to 27W when connected to a 30W (or higher) power adapter, new tests reveal. That’s up from a maximum of 22W in last year’s iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The smaller iPhone 13 Pro maxes out at 23W, while all iPhone 13 units — with the exception of iPhone 13 mini — can receive up to 15W when charging wirelessly using an Apple MagSafe charger.
iPhone 13 Pro Max offers faster charging speeds
If you’re still using one of the small white adapters Apple used to bundle with iPhone to charge up your device, you’re missing out on significantly faster charging speeds. Those adapters deliver just 5W of power, but newer iPhone models are capable of receiving a lot more than that.
iPhone 13 Pro Max is capable of receiving up to 27W of power when connected to a 30W power adapter, while iPhone 13 Pro can take up to 23W. The new charging speeds were discovered in tests carried out by ChargerLAB, which posted the following video on YouTube.
That’s a nice increase in speed over iPhone 12 Pro Max, which maxes out at 22W. But it’s not quite as fast as some rival devices, like the latest Samsung Galaxy devices, which take up to 45W, or the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, which receives a whopping 120W when using a compatible charging adapter.
How to get 27W charging on iPhone 13 Pro Max
Apple offers its own 30W charging adapter with USB-C connectivity, priced at $49. However, you can pick up some great third-party alternatives for a lot less than that. Anker’s 30W PowerPort III Mini charger is currently just $23.99 on Amazon, while a dual-port option from Angkeel is only $18.99.
