A super-slim version of the iPhone 17 could stand out as the most expensive option in Apple’s lineup, even though it wouldn’t come with all the features of the Pro models in that same series.

Other specifications for 2025’s iPhone 17 series supposedly leaked out over the weekend as well.

iPhone 17 Slim: Most expensive option in Apple’s lineup?

Most details about the iPhone 16 series expected in September seem settled at this point. Apple plans moderately updated versions of the current iPhone 15 series, with faster processors, more RAM and AI features known as Apple Intelligence. However, 2025 should bring bigger changes to the iPhone lineup.

Most notably, Apple is supposedly developing its slimmest iOS handset ever. It first came to light this spring, and many specifications leaked out for the device (temporarily dubbed “iPhone 17 Slim” to differentiate it). This new leak came Saturday from tipster Ice Universe, known for sharing early details of Apple products in recent years.

The trimmed-down iPhone reportedly will include a 6.65-inch OLED touchscreen. That’s larger than the 6.27-inch one planned for the basic version of the handset, but smaller than the 6.86-inch screen supposedly coming in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. All models in this series supposedly will come with 120Hz ProMotion screens.

iPhone 17 Slim will run an Apple A19 processor, not the advanced A19 Pro chip destined for the two Pro handsets. It’ll come with 8GB of RAM — sufficient for Apple’s AI features but less than the 12GB of RAM the Pro versions reportedly will get.

And the slim handset won’t offer the 48MP camera going into the other 2025 models — probably because the camera would be too thick.

Aside from being significantly sleeker than its predecessors, the outstanding feature of the iPhone 17 Slim will be its $1,299 price tag, according to Ice Universe. That’s $100 above the projected cost of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Take this iPhone leak with a grain of salt

With the iPhone 17 series more than a year away, making projections about the handsets’ features is a dicey business. While Apple plans out its product lines years in advance, sometimes the company makes changes on the fly. For example, if some Apple Intelligence feature requires more RAM, Apple could increase the amount of memory in these handsets.

Also, Ice Universe is best known for Android leaks. The leaker’s record with Apple remains mixed.

Those thinking about something cheaper instead should be interested in the leaked fourth-generation iPhone SE specs that also emerged on Monday
