Two new videos surfaced recently that use dummy units to show just how incredibly — even shockingly — thin the iPhone 17 Air will be when it comes out in several months.
“That’s futuristic,” one reviewer exclaimed, adding he doubted Apple will sell any other iPhone Series 17 models when customers see and feel the rumored slim model.
Videos show shockingly thin iPhone 17 Air
iPhone 17 Air CAD renders and dummy units have floated around for a while, indicating the handset’s notable thinness. But now they’re popping up in videos, handled by reviewers and apparently even members of the public.
In one, a reviewer from Unbox Therapy expresses absolute amazement at the dummy’s thinness. In the other, well-known leaker Majin Bu shows video purportedly from a retail store in China that he said used dummy models to give customers an idea of what’s coming.

Unbox Therapy’s Lewis George Hilsenteger showed off the whole iPhone Series 17 lineup in dummy form on YouTube. But he reserved most comments for iPhone 17 Air, which blew him away with its thinness.
He called it futuristic and predicted that demand for the super-thin iPhone might far exceed other models in the lineup. He also worried aloud that the iPhone Air might bend too easily, especially when carried in a back pants pocket.
“It feels like half,” he said, referring to its thickness as he held it against the iPhone 17 Pro Max dummy. “It’s not half, but it feels like half.” His measurements showed the iPhone Air at 5.65mm at its thinnest and Pro Max at 8.75mm.

In the other video, leaker Majin Bu shows a video in an X.com post. He said it’s from a store in China where iPhone Series 17 dummies were used to show the handsets to customers.
“In China, a store is using the CAD models I provided to show people how the various iPhone 17 models differ from older models,” he noted.
It’s not clear where the dummies in the videos came from, but they appear detailed, with some even listing precise measurements.
