yeah people who ordered a top tier macbook pro in february being notified it won't be delivered until june

well it's not a problem with the mac studio i just i love the the track pad and keyboard layout of the macbook pro

and the external track pad with a keyboard sitting next to it with the mac studio i

just don't love that as much the the trackpad has like this weird elevation to it so you can't put it

directly in front of your keyboard you have to put it off to the side and so now you have to like reach your hand over and use the track pad over here and

i use it just like that list just like that and then bring your hand back to the attractive you bring it back to the

keyboard do a little bit of this action and it just doesn't feel as good as it doesn't feel as tight as the macbook pro

keyboard trackpad orientation so now i'm like maybe i should get a 14-inch macbook pro but then i feel guilty

somebody though has printed up a or it has a like a a 3d printing thing that

difficult but the thing is is they they make the trackpad thicker when you buy the external one so the macbook pro

trackpad and keyboard are flush with each other and they don't have a lot of elevation off the table yeah so you just

release the webcam looking like this like they've got to fix it and i'm like

the reason it looks the way that it does is because they can't change it that's why it looks that's the best they can

make it look and this fix it tunes it it tunes it to make it look a little bit

better but it doesn't look a lot better i have to say and in fact in some

scenes in some lighting scenarios i just say it actually looks worse

and so i'm gonna pull up a video by max tech here and and uh maximize this here we go and you can see

like right here on the screen he's got the studio display with the old firmware um on the left and then the new

firmware on the right and it kind of makes everything just look darker and they tried to add more

contrast in the fix but essentially what they did was they just lowered the brightness to me

and so you can't see his shirt as well his face also looks darker well that handles a lot of the noise because it's

not as bright but four inches taller too oh yeah it also it also changes the

perspective on your head so it it backs off the um the crop a little bit

which i think is another one of the reasons why it looks less noisy because

when you crop in so it's a 1080p uh webcam and when you crop it in to to to to use

the um the feature that i can never remember the uh the name of center stage thank you i i honestly

don't know why i can't remember the name of that feature when you crop in on center stage it it's digital crop right so it's expanding the

image and and then all the pixels get bigger so i think that they reduced the crop a little bit so that

the expansion of those pixels doesn't look as bad but the overall

looked at a few of these things online i see people talking about this stuff and it's it's like when i see people comparing pictures of an iphone and an

said to me which one of those looks better like well this is a little darker but this one's a little washed out this was

i've every single uh comparison shot that i've seen so far of people talking about this uh studio display webcam has

been exactly like that it's like well this has pluses this has minuses you know and i don't know why people are getting so

bent out of shape about it i mean it looks fine to me and i mean that we love the way the center stage thing

works i mean to be honest the the old one looks a little in that picture right

there the mac sex thing it looks a little bit uh like kind of like almost like there's a filter applied like it's

almost like beautified a little bit right yeah the contrast is just really low now i i should caveat like i i fast

forwarded in the video here and and the one that you're seeing here on the left is the studio display with the old firmware and on the right is the 16 inch

macbook pro and like look how much better the camera looks on the 16 inch macbook pro there's just way more has more detail in there

yeah it's more dynamic range like the lighting looks and he's in the exact same lighting conditions in in both of these

and so the macbook pro has a much better camera in fact max tech joined us when they when they joined the show like two

weeks ago from their 16-inch macbook pro with the built-in mics and i was actually stunned it sounded

great they looked great and i was asking them if they were using the mics built into the macbook pro

because i was worried we were going to get like some echo and feedback and stuff and we didn't get any of that not that single instance of it and it

sounded it sound it was the best sounding computer mics i had ever heard like it sounded incredible i i just

assumed that they had a mic you know off the camera no they didn't they were just using the macbook pro that's impressive

yeah that was impressive right because it it sounded perfect i mean it doesn't sound as good as like us using real mics

it was not the thing with audio is like does it distract you if it doesn't distract you if you don't hear a bunch of um echoes

or doesn't sound garbled or far away or anything like that that's a major win for me so anyway the fix is in for the uh the

apple studio display and in my opinion in most scenes it actually looks slightly worse because

way they tuned it i think it looks way too contrasty and i tend to i prefer like a a lighter area image which is why
