I was recently asked to do more work around the house, so I started thinking, could I
0:07
mix my love of tech with housework? Well the answer is yes and this is the Aircraft Pilot Max
0:14
A robot vacuum that retails for £399 here in the UK which works out to around $510 at
0:19
the current conversion rates. Only problem is, it's not available in the states at the moment, only Europe
0:25
The Pilot Max has a familiar circular design that most robot vacuums have followed
0:29
All in the glossy black eye of here, as well as white. Visually it looks a lot sleeker and more futuristic than a lot of its competitors thanks to the
0:36
clean look and the 3 touch buttons on top. There's auto, charge and spot buttons in case you've lost the handy remote
0:42
These two silver prongs on the front are there as the Pilot Max can dock itself back on charge
0:46
once it's completed a clean. Which is super cool to see and means it's one less device that I have to worry about charging
0:53
It runs on a 2200mAh battery which you have to install yourself after unboxing it
0:57
Which is just a case of unscrewing the panel off with the included screwdriver
1:02
Also included is the remote, an additional filter, a little brush for cleaning the vacuum
1:06
out, an extra side brush and a clip on polisher for when you've got it on hard floors
1:10
This easily clips on so it polishes the floor as it goes along
1:14
Also included is this item that resembles a futuristic pepper grinder which is actually
1:17
a virtual wall. So you can set a perimeter and stop the Pilot Max from entering a room that you don't want
1:22
it to go into. Underneath it features twin brush blades, there's the bristle one at the front and
1:27
a rubber one at the back which reaches deeper into carpets. These can both easily be removed to clean or replace with new ones
1:34
There's also that side brush which is essential due to its circular shape. So this spins around and gathers any dirt in corners and any nooks or crannies into
1:41
the centre of the vacuum to pick them up. There's also the dirt collection box which is easy to empty and it collects a surprising
1:48
amount of dirt. This is the result after just 30 minutes of use
1:52
Getting it going is really simple. You can either program set times and days for full automation through the remote which
1:58
is super easy or you can simply press auto which is how I tended to use mine
2:03
It comes straight off the charging dock and get to work. The sensors ensure that it avoids most obstacles, only occasionally hitting chair legs but it
2:10
does a great job at navigating the room for the most part. It's also small enough to get under tables and sofas, reaching places I might forget
2:17
or struggle to take care of with a traditional vacuum. It's also absolutely fine at getting over rugs or carpet cover strips thanks to the
2:23
wheels that have a decent amount of travel. What's even cooler is that the sensors underneath to detect ledges, meaning if you're cleaning
2:31
up stairs, it won't go over the edge. So there's no worries of finding it in a million pieces at the bottom of the stairs
2:37
once you get home. It's great for hoovering around my office and picking up any little bits in between
2:41
big cleans and generally making its way around the whole house. I wasn't expecting it to be great at picking up every crumb and bit of dirt around the
2:48
house but it really surprised me at just how effective it was
2:52
Picking up hard and larger debris it did a brilliant job. The only thing it really struggled with was any bits of fluff that had been treaded into
2:57
the carpet. And considering this isn't at the top of the market in terms of price, I'm really
3:02
impressed with the value for money and build quality of the Pilot Max
3:06
Overall this is an amazing robot vacuum which, price wise, sits in the middle of the market
3:10
but is as good as, if not better than a lot of the higher end offerings
3:15
If there's one thing I could change about the Pilot Max, it's that I'd like a mobile app
3:19
All of the features are primed to be controlled by an iPhone and it would be great to see a virtual map of where it's been around my house
3:24
Aside from that though, it's a pretty flawless product that I and my fiance are falling in
3:28
love with. Well, that's it for this video but if you'd like more information on the Aircraft Max
