Today I'm going to show you how to create a custom ringtone on your iPhone
0:04
You know, it comes with all these defaults, but if you want to use your own, it's not an entirely easy process, but I'll walk you through it
0:12
First, the ringtone you want needs to be in MP3 format. If you can find it on YouTube, that's great
0:18
First, you just need to copy the URL, and then in another tab, you're going to go to cobalt.tools
0:26
You paste the link in here, you tap audio, and then you tap the arrows at the end
0:35
Then you tap the download button right here, and you tap download
0:42
Now you've downloaded the YouTube video as an MP3 file on your phone
0:47
Next, we're going to go to the App Store, and you need to install GarageBand
0:52
This app is designed to make and edit music. Don't worry, you don't need to record anything
0:57
This is all just part of the process. It's completely free, but it is a big download at about a gigabyte
1:03
Once you've opened GarageBand, you're going to swipe over to audio recorder
1:07
and tap voice. You don't need to touch any of these controls
1:12
Instead, you're going to hit this button on the left of the toolbar
1:15
that looks like a stack of blocks. That'll switch you over to this timeline
1:20
Next, you're going to go over to the files app. In the recents tab, on the left, you should see my song
1:28
That's the song that we just created in GarageBand. And then the second item should be the MP3 file that you just downloaded
1:34
You're going to long press on that and tap copy. Then you'll go back to GarageBand, tap on the timeline, and tap paste
1:42
Allow paste. If there's a bit of silence at the beginning, you can zoom in with two fingers
1:48
tap on the clip, and then drag in from the left edge to cut the silence out
1:55
Then you can drag it over so that it starts at the beginning. And if there's a section at the end that you want to trim out, you can do that too
2:02
Ringtones can only be 30 seconds long. So if your MP3 file is longer than that
2:07
you might as well find the best stopping point yourself. And you can preview it by hitting the play button
2:12
Once you have it all set, then you're going to tap the arrow on the left
2:16
and tap my songs. It'll save it. Then you're going to tap and hold on it and tap rename
2:26
Give it a good name. Done. Then you're going to tap and hold on it again and tap share
2:35
Then you'll tap ringtone export. Ringtone export successful. Then you're going to tap use sound as
2:45
And you can pick standard ringtone, standard text tone, or you can assign it to a specific contact
2:51
I'm going to pick standard ringtone. Next, we'll go over to the settings app. And you can now see that this is my custom ringtone
2:59
To find this, it's in settings, sound and haptics, ringtone. That is how you can set a custom ringtone on the iPhone
