iOS 17.3 Update: Stream Directly to Your Hotel TV with AirPlay | CultCast Insight

So, actually, Lewis, this is you. No! I thought you were so excited about it you wanted to take it over

I'm happy to talk about it. Just at least mention it. My in-depth research on this

For people that are traveling, this would be cool. Yeah, with iOS 17.3 and iPadOS, same thing

you can wirelessly stream content from your iPhone or iPad to a compatible hotel room TV via AirPlay

Which is gonna be awesome when it happens, right? You're in a hotel room, you don't have to mess around with their janky in-house crap

You basically are gonna be able to scan a little QR code. And supposedly, A, you'll automatically connect to the TV and you'll get connected to the hotel Wi-Fi

It takes care of a bunch of problems, right? However, Apple announced this last year in adoptions, but a little slower than expected

But LG, one of the original partners, I don't know if they're a partner

but they said they were gonna be rolling it out last year. Now they actually say that they're gonna be rolling out TVs that offer this feature at hotels in the coming months

IHG Hotels and Resorts is supposedly one of the very first ones to offer this at certain hotels

They own a whole bunch of Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, blah, blah, blah

A long list of things. Anyway, this story is from MacRumors. This is a quote from their story

A spokesperson for LG today informed MacRumors that the company expects the first hotels to install AirPlay-enabled smart TVs, quote

later this spring, meaning that the feature would be available mid-June at the latest

So, you know, we were talking about this. It's like, okay, well, is it hardware

You know, is it only a place that has to have a brand new TV put in the room

If so, that's gonna take forever. But apparently, at least from the press release that LG put out a while back, it's gonna work with recent models of their smart TVs

And with any luck, other companies will also switch on this feature somehow

And I mean, once they do, it'll be a great boon for everybody. Anytime you stay in a hotel, if you can just stream something from your phone or your iPad directly to the TV, that's gonna be fantastic

I think that's really all there is to say about it. It's coming soon

You know, let us know if you ever run into a hotel that has this, because it's gonna be fantastic, right

I mean, I wasn't trying to downplay how cool the feature will be

I was just, it sounds like it might take a little bit of time still, you know

Like, they're not gonna replace every single TV in every hotel room in America

No, not yet. Not this week. Not this month. Not this year

When I went to Disney World last year, and we stayed at one of the Disney World resorts, I was like

Dude, how do we watch anything on this TV? There's no way to get the content. Everyone carries their content with them now, everywhere they go

And I don't need to rent a movie from the hotel or from Disney to watch something

I should be able to just stream it. And it's a bit impossible to do unless you bring a Chromecast or something with you

This is the future we all need and deserve. That's the only reason why I wanted to bring it up
