Following in Google’s footsteps, Samsung has added AirDrop support to its newest flagship phones: the Galaxy S26 series. This enables iPhone and Galaxy S26 users to transfer files between devices seamlessly.
Google and Samsung have enabled AirDrop support in Quick Share without Apple’s help.
Galaxy S26 gains AirDrop support
Similar to AirDrop, Google offers Quick Share functionality on Android devices. It allows you to wirelessly share large files with other nearby devices. It even works with select Windows PCs if you install the right app and drivers.
In November 2025, Google surprised everyone by adding AirDrop support to Quick Share. The feature initially debuted on the Pixel 10 and recently expanded to the Pixel 9.
Samsung is joining the bandwagon now, bringing the same functionality to the Galaxy S26 series, with plans to roll it out to more Galaxy devices “at a later date.”
AirDrop support in Quick Share makes file sharing easy
AirDrop support in Quick Share works exactly like it should. The compatibility extends both ways allowsing for two-way file sharing. So, Galaxy S26 or Pixel owners can send or receive files over AirDrop from iPhone, iPad and even Macs.
Note that when sharing content with an iPhone or another Apple device, the recipient must set AirDrop visibility to “Everyone for 10 minutes.”
Native AirDrop support in Quick Share will make quick file transfers between iPhones and Galaxies a lot less painful. Right now, users rely on third-party apps, messaging services, or cloud uploads for such tasks — all of which add unnecessary steps and slow things down.
Other Android companies, like Oppo and OnePlus, should also soon add AirDrop support to their devices.
