Apple rolled out a new tvOS 27.2 build for the upcoming fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. The new hardware is getting a different version of the update than current Apple TV owners got last week. Apple hasn’t explained what changed, but it leaked out.
The new version of the streaming box is scheduled to launch in mid-November.
New tvOS 27.2 build targets the new Apple TV 4K
The wraps came off a new Apple TV 4K version on October 13 with an improved remote, support for four-speaker surround sound and other improvements. It’s expected to launch with tvOS 27.2, but apparently not the version going into earlier Apple TV models.
Apple shipped the original tvOS 27.2 update on October 26 alongside iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2. But now there’s a separate one just for the new streaming device.
Apple didn’t reveal any details about what’s new in the build, and the tvOS 27.2 release notes remain unchanged.
Siri AI appears to be enabled
We may have the answer, though. Prominent Apple code tinkerer pdfu wrote Monday on X that Siri AI is coming to the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K in this system software update. The leaker added that the feature was previously locked to internal builds.
While Apple hasn’t confirmed anything, there’s hope a new build for older Apple TV models will follow suit, as some of these can also use Siri AI.

What the new Apple TV 4K brings
The new Apple TV 4K starts at $299 and is currently up for preorder. It will arrive in stores on November 13.
Apple’s pitch for the new set-top box is around Siri AI. The fresh Apple TV comes with built-in far-field microphones that let you issue hands-free voice commands without the Siri Remote. It also includes a new surround sound feature that can pair up to four compatible HomePods as front and rear speakers.
Last week, tvOS 27.2 also brought some new features to existing models. They include a Shuffle option for screen savers and finer control over which photos show up. Select movies and TV shows also get support for American and British Sign Language.
